PSG beat Barcelona 3-1 to reach Champions League quarter-finals

Kylian Mbappe scores twice as French champions secure victory at Camp Nou

Lionel Messi's penalty not enough as Barca crash out of Europe's top club competition

Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 3-1 at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Kylian Mbappe scored twice for the French champions, with Moise Kean also on target. Lionel Messi scored a penalty for Barcelona, but it was not enough to prevent them from crashing out of Europe's top club competition.

Barcelona took the lead in the 27th minute when Messi converted a penalty after he was fouled by Layvin Kurzawa. However, PSG equalised just before half-time when Mbappe scored from close range.

PSG took the lead in the 65th minute when Mbappe scored his second goal of the game. Kean then made it 3-1 in the 70th minute with a header from a corner.

Barcelona tried to get back into the game, but they were unable to find a way past PSG's defence. The French champions held on to secure a famous victory and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The result is a major blow for Barcelona, who have now been eliminated from the Champions League at the last-16 stage for the second season in a row. It is also a major boost for PSG, who are now one of the favourites to win the competition.
